About the 2026-27 Season

Welcome to our 60th Anniversary Season! This milestone offers not only a chance to celebrate our past, but also an opportunity to look boldly toward the future of music-making in our community.

To mark this occasion, we have crafted a season that reflects both ambition and artistry at the highest level. Among the highlights are two world premieres, each of which we will perform and record for commercial release! We are proud to welcome back Italian composer Massimiliano Messieri in his Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra, featuring the extraordinary Italian saxophonist Alex Sebastianutto, as well as Tyler Harrison’s Symphony No. 4, a powerful new work for large orchestra, chorus, and vocal soloists.

This season also brings internationally celebrated artists to our stage, including acclaimed Mexican pianists Jorge Viladoms and Mauro Lo Conte, who join us for Philip Glass’s mesmerizing Concerto for Two Pianos. His artistry and global cultural presence promise a performance of exceptional energy and insight.

Building on the momentum of last season’s performance of Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote, we continue our exploration of transformation with Strauss’s deeply moving tone poem Death and Transfiguration—a work that contemplates life, struggle, and transcendence.

Collaboration remains central to our mission, and we are especially excited to partner for the first time with the newly-formed St. Vrain Chorus here in Longmont; Together, we will present a program of choral masterworks, including Mozart’s radiant Vesperae solennes de Confessore and Bach’s jubilant Magnificat.

We are also delighted to welcome back cellist Clancy Newman for Prokofiev’s formidable Sinfonia Concertante, one of the most demanding works in the cello repertoire. This program is paired with Lutosławski’s electrifying Concerto for Orchestra, offering a thrilling showcase for our musicians.

This anniversary season is, above all, a celebration of the community whose support has sustained and inspired the Longmont Symphony Orchestra for six decades. We invite you to join us on this extraordinary journey and share in the excitement of a season that honors our legacy while embracing the future of music and culture in Longmont.

We are looking forward to you being part of this landmark year!
